Photo shoot
These are the photos I took that I will then chose the best ones from the selection that will be going onto my Magazine

This first image is the one I want to use as my front cover image because it’s a close up body and face shot which makes it a better photo for a front cover as  the model is now clearer for the reader to see. The 4th wall has been broken down because of the models direct look into the camera therefore making eye contact with the readers.

This is another image that will be going on to the Contents page of my music magazine and will be my background image, the reason for picking this picture is because of the focus on the guitar. The model is playing the instrument in this picture which puts the theme and genre of the music across. It also shows the focus on the model as the music magazine is mainly about him and his music.

This photo will be the main image on the double page spread in my magazine because I will be putting speech around this image and as it is an interview about the models personal and musical life I want there to be a focus on the guitar.

There will be min images dotted on both the front cover and the contents page so some of these pictures will be put in my magazine however, smaller than the other images in the background.

Font Questionaire
Once I had the name of my music magazine, I then went on to decide what font to have the name in. I tried out many different font types which went into a questionaire as I could then ask 25 students in my class for their opinion on their preferrred font, the font with the most votes will be my final choice.

Name Questionaire
I now have to think of a name for my music magazine so I thought of a few ideas and put them into a questionaire to get opinions from 25 students in my class and the most popular name that gets the most votes will be my final chosen name for my magazine.

I have looked at 3 contents pages from the music magazine 'Kerrang' 'Vibe' and 'Q'. These will help me to create drafts and look at what to include to my final design.

Front Cover Analysis
I have looked at 3 front covers from the music magazines 'Vibe' 'Kerrang' and 'Q'.

Double page spreads
I have analysed 3 double page spreads from the music magazines 'Kerrang' 'Vibe' and 'Q'. I have looked at the conventions in these double page spreads and these will help me create drafts for my music magazine.

Hip- Hop/ Grime Artists
I have gone on to look at artists that are under the genre hip-hop and grime which I want to base my magazine around. Ed Sheeran is one of the artists pictured there that I am going to focus on and mention in my magazine as his music is the exact genre I am focussing on.

Hip- Hop Fashion
I then looked at hip- hop fashion as I wanted to see what the style of my magazine should be like and the imagery it should contain which will match the theme hip hop keeping my magazine consistent.

Audience
The type of audience you are targeting will then give you specific features and factors to include into your drafts and final magazine.  I am aiming my magazine at teenagers and people aged 16 +. I need to make sure my magazine looks interesting to capture the audience’s attention at first. I want to make my magazine cover more colourful than the contents page as colour mainly captures attention of a younger/teenage audience. As my magazine is going to be based on hip-hop/grime genre, the audience I am targeting are people who enjoy and like hip- hop music as I think this magazine would mainly appeal to them. I also have to add images and language that is suited for my audience, that they can understand what they’re reading and images that would appeal to them.

Part 1- Researching Genres Of Music
I have chosen to do more research on hip-hop artists such as Beyonce, Alicia Keys and Rhianna. I am going to look at how they fit in to the category their music is placed under.

Artist Research- Beyonce
The final hip-hop artist I focussed on was Beyonce. Yet again I analysed an album cover, poster and a page from her website.

Artist Research- Rihanna
The second hip- hop artist I researched was Rihanna. I done the same by analysing an album cover, poster and a page from her website.
